Mindfulness, in conjunction with traditional psychotherapy, can promote improved physical and mental health as clients implement learned skills into their day to day routines. Mindfulness practices have roots in ancient Eastern tradition and continue to provide a variety of health benefits to children and adults. Techniques of mindfulness can be adapted for a variety of clients needs and abilities as well as comfort levels. These techniques may include practices of breath-work, deliberate focus on present moments, self compassion exercises, meditation, self reflection through journaling, various grounding techniques and many other skills. Through mindfulness, clients can work towards improved body awareness, emotional insight and emotion regulation, and decreased anxiety or stress throughout their day.
