Art has been a primary form of communication and expression throughout human history. Art Therapy is a growing specialization in the field of mental health that can look different based on the client’s needs. It may be used for storytelling when verbal communication is difficult, relaxation, processing past experiences, or to improve sensorimotor functions. Art therapy is appropriate for any age client and can be adapted to a varying level of artistic abilities or settings. A client does not need any artistic abilities to benefit from Art Therapy in sessions. With support from a trained Art Therapist, clients can explore various modes of self expression and expand on their emotional exploration experience through the art materials. Individual appointments and group therapy are both available.
